Aaron teaches private cello and workshops for kids and adults. All teaching involves improvising methods, but also teaches the fundamental building blocks of music. Aaron exclusively uses his own curriculum, Foundations for Improvisational Cello Playing, and has a new curriculum for younger students called Cello Basics. Both curriculums teach note reading and improvisation using scales and original duets, along with songs by songwriters and a play-along CD. Group workshops include teaching the building blocks of music through the Semiconductor Orchestra’s conducting cues, music history, composition, music theory, reading jazz charts, playing with songwriters, playing with bands, and electronic manipulation of string instruments through effects and amplification. He wants more classically trained cellists to branch out because of the need for cellists as improvisers. |
