Aaron at The Vanguard New Music Series at Zion Lutheran Church
Four local composers will present their latest works at a concert of new vocal music. The concert will be on Friday, November 18th, 7pm at Zion Lutheran Church in the Midway neighborhood of St. Paul.
The composers, Emily Boyajian, Jared Coffin, Aaron Kerr, and Jonathan Posthuma, are all part of the local new music scene in the Twin Cities. Their music is performed by a wide variety of ensembles at concerts and festivals locally and nationally.
This concert features vocalists Ian Cook, Todd Harper, Tara Priolo, and Carole Schultz. The new vocal pieces they are performing feature a variety of composing styles, including free-form organ and chant, settings of classic poetry, and a small opera based on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and resignation of President Richard Nixon.
This concert will also be the first concert of the Vanguard New Music Series, a series of concerts featuring local composers. More concerts will be announced soon.
Admission to the concert is $15 at the door. Cash, check, Venmo, and PayPay accepted. This is an all-ages show.
